Amb. Robert O’Brien Joins Signature Resolution
Widely respected trial lawyer, negotiator and presidential advisor will act as a neutral for legal disputes
LOS ANGELES – May 17, 2021 – Signature Resolution, a leader in alternative dispute resolution, announced today that Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien has joined the firm as a neutral mediator. O’Brien joins Signature Resolution after decades of serving as a trial lawyer, negotiator, and an advisor to three presidential administrations.
“I am pleased to be working with Signature Resolution,” said O’Brien. “I know that at Signature Resolution, I can use my experience as a lawyer and diplomat to assist parties to achieve fair and satisfactory solutions to their disputes.”
O’Brien is well-known nationally for his work as a trial lawyer, having served as lead trial and appellate counsel in high-profile commercial litigation matters and international arbitration cases. He is the co-founder of Larson O’Brien LLP and was named one of the Top I00 Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal and one of the Top 500 Lawyers in America by Law Dragon.
O’Brien has also served as a special master for numerous federal and state court cases, including MGA v. Mattel (“Barbie v. Bratz”), United States v. Standard & Poors, and In re Allergan Securities Litigation. Additionally, he has served as an arbitrator in more than two dozen domestic and international matters.
O’Brien was the 28th United States National Security Advisor from 2019-2021. During his time in office, the United States orchestrated the historic Abraham Accords, which brought peace to the Middle East, brokered economic normalization between Serbia and Kosovo, and achieved significant defense spending increases among our NATO partners. O’Brien previously served in numerous senior government positions, including Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. He led negotiations resulting in the return of over 20 American detainees and hostages held overseas and was accorded the personal rank of Ambassador by the President.
O’Brien was awarded the National Security Medal, the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Department of Defense Distinguished Public Service Medal and he received the Presidential Medal of Merits from the Government of Kosovo.
He holds a J.D. from the U.C. Berkeley School of Law and his B.A. in political science from UCLA.
“There are few legal professionals in America with the wide-ranging experience and knowledge of Robert O’Brien,” said Dario Higuchi, managing partner of Signature Resolution. “Amb. O’Brien will help us continue to define the future of the alternative dispute resolution space.”
