South Florida-Based Mediator/Arbitrator Michael Weiss Joins UWWM’s Panel
PLANTATION, Fla. (December 4, 2023) – Michael Weiss has joined the panel of professional neutrals at Upchurch Watson White & Max. Mr. Weiss began his lengthy legal career in insurance defense litigation, and then switched to representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters.
“His broad trial experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants over the course of his career inspires confidence in the skills Michael Weiss brings to the table as a neutral,” John Upchurch, UWWM’s CEO, says. “We are indeed fortunate that he has joined our panel, and are delighted to offer our clients the benefit of his dedication and wisdom in resolving their cases.”
Mr. Weiss has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 2015 and took the leap to become a full-time mediator/arbitrator earlier this year. He ended his private practice after a decade as a founding partner at Blaut Weiss Law Group.
He helps parties resolve conflicts in the practice areas of personal injury, wrongful death, automobile accidents, funeral home/cemetery abuse, medical malpractice, slip/trip and fall, insurance disputes, first-party property and premises liability/negligent security.
Mr. Weiss says his legal experience, litigating and trying cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, distinguishes him from many other mediators in the region. “As a result, I truly understand both sides of the case,” he says. “My balanced experience provides me with an excellent background to be a mediator because I understand the issues, risks and concerns of both sides better than most mediators. In short, I know how to speak to plaintiffs, defendants and insurance adjusters.”
Mr. Weiss is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Florida Legal Elite. Outside of work, he is active in his local chamber of commerce (recognized as small business leader of the year in 2017) and serves as vice president of the Smiling Faces Forever Foundation, a Broward County organization that delivers toys and school supplies to sick and needy children.
