The College of Commercial Arbitrators Announces 2024 Associates Selected for Prestigious Associates Mentorship Program
Highly Qualified, Candidates Increasing Diversity in Commercial Arbitration
AUSTIN, TX – The College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA) announces its 2024 “CCA Associates,” a carefully selected group of well-qualified arbitrators. The CCA launched the Associates Mentorship Program in 2022 to assist arbitrators from diverse backgrounds with their efforts to develop commercial arbitration practices.
All CCA Associates have active alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practices, but less than five years of experience serving as a commercial arbitrator. Each of these newly selected CCA Associates will have the opportunity to participate in CCA Activities and educational programs for the next two years as well as attend the CCA Annual Meeting in October.
The mentorship opportunity allows CCA Fellows to share the highest standards of best practices with the Associates selected while increasing the number of new, highly competent commercial arbitrators, according to L. Tyrone Holt, CCA Fellow and CCA Associates Mentorship Program Co-Chair. “It accelerates the rate at which the commercial arbitration practices of the mentees can create an economically viable source of revenue for them,” said Holt. “It increases the number of qualified diverse arbitrators who are available to serve on arbitration panels and creates a large pool of qualified arbitrators for the well-recognized arbitration service providers, like the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, and others.”
In total, 29 applications were submitted, one of the highest numbers ever received in the program’s three-year history. “As the program becomes more well known, with each year, the competition is greater and we have more deserving applicants apply,” added Holt.
This year’s class includes Associates from California and, for the first time, Michigan and Canada. The selected CCA Associates for 2024-2026 are:
- Rebecca Huang, Toronto, ON, Canada, CIArb.
- Tamara Lange, California, JAMS Panel Member.
- Marcus Quintanilla, California, AAA/ICDR Panel Member.
- Lisa Timmons, Michigan, AAA Panel Member.
