Merger completed – MLL is ready for the future
Leading Swiss business law firm with a focus on high-tech, innovative and regulated industries.
The law firms Meyerlustenberger Lachenal and Froriep announce the successful closing of their merger as intimated in December 2020. From 1 July 2021, MLL Meyerlustenberger Lachenal Froriep Ltd will operate under the MLL brand. The new merged law firm offers a strong interdisciplinary and international focus in all areas of commercial law and has a clear positioning through its proven expertise in the high-tech sector and in innovative and regulated industries. MLL sees itself as a law firm of the future and is strengthening its engagement in the training and personal development of each team member. Already this year the MLL Academy will be launched for all employees of the law firm and from 2022 its offering will be extended to others outside the firm. MLL will also be introducing a Cybersecurity Incident Response Hub and aims to play a leading role in the area of legal tech on the Swiss market.
With over 150 lawyers, the newly merged law firm MLL has extensive expertise and experience in all areas of business law. The merger consolidates the existing know-how of the two firms in advising in innovative and regulated industries such as fintech, blockchain, life sciences and artificial intelligence. Diversity and resilience as well as interdisciplinary thinking and a cosmopolitan outlook are central values of MLL’s corporate culture. MLL has by far the most female partners compared to other Swiss business law firms.
MLL’s interdisciplinary approach addresses clients’ increasing demand for comprehensive legal advice and their growing expectations for law firms to contribute to the financial and societal success of their businesses. With its legal services, MLL aims to contribute to the economic, ecological and social sustainability of its clients.
Ambitious goals drive MLL’s leadership and quality standards
The MLL Academy for employees is launching in the second half of 2021. From 2022 training will also be offered to external parties in the areas of business law and personal development. MLL’s goal is to become an important training provider on the Swiss market for the next generation of business leaders. With regard to sustainability, MLL aims to become the first leading Swiss law firm to be certified as a B Corporation. Building on this, the firm intends to increasingly be an advisor on sustainability issues for its clients.
Another goal for MLL is the introduction of a Cybersecurity Incident Response Hub. The hub will be the first of a series of networking hubs that will offer multidisciplinary advice in a one-stop shop. Furthermore, MLL – in close cooperation with a dedicated partner – will substantially invest in the automation of legal processes using artificial intelligence. A first pay-as-you-go offering for legal documents has already been launched. A roadmap is also in place to develop a suite of tools and services to increase efficiency and continuously improve the delivery of legal services.
