South Florida-Based Charlie Greene Joins UWWM’s Panel
PLANTATION, Fla. (March 27, 2023) – A Circuit Judge of more than 32 years, Charles M. “Charlie” Greene has left the bench to join Upchurch Watson White & Max’s panel as a mediator, special magistrate and arbitrator.
“We are delighted that Charlie Greene selected UWWM to manage his neutral practice following his distinguished judicial career,” firm CEO John Upchurch says. “His broad experience, coupled with his reputation for inspiring others to collaborate to reach common ground, will serve our clients well.”
Most recently, Mr. Greene served as the Administrative Judge of the probate and guardianship division for Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. Before that, he was assigned to the complex civil litigation division and presided over lengthy and complex trials.
He also served in the criminal division (presiding over more than 30 first-degree murder trials), the family division and the civil division and was the Administrative Judge of the criminal division, overseeing the trial, domestic violence, career criminal and drug court divisions and presiding over felony trials. As a Circuit Judge, he has presided over more than 1,000 jury trials and tens of thousands of hearings and non-jury trials. He also was an Associate Judge for the 4th District Court of Appeals. Previously, as an attorney, he litigated over 100 jury trials to completion.
After graduating from Nova Southeastern University’s law school, Mr. Greene served in the State Attorney’s office for the 17th and 20th circuits, spending almost six years as a prosecutor. He then went into private general practice, specializing in criminal and family law. He was also the legal advisor to the Boca Raton Police Department when he was elected Judge in 1990.
He is a commercial-rated pilot and a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving as an aircraft commander. He also volunteers as a pilot with numerous organizations to transport organ-transplant patients and fulfill other medical needs and for compassion flights.
His calendar is currently filling, and he is available to assist in resolving matters in the areas of general civil and complex civil litigation, personal injury/wrongful death, probate and guardianship, aviation, medical malpractice, nursing home violations, appellate and more. He mediates and performs other neutral services everywhere, by Zoom or in person.
